Hello! My name is Rijah and I am a singer, songwriter, vocal instructor and producer from Jersey City, currently based in Boston at Berklee College of Music. Coming from a family full of musicians, and growing up in a diverse city, just a train ride away from Manhattan, I was lucky enough to have been exposed to a wide range of music and cultures my entire life.
I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember and have had 6+ years of formal training, and experience teaching voice students for the past two years. The music I write and perform are primarily in the pop, R&B and soul world, but I have experience in all contemporary genres and teach classical repertoire to students as well. Working with students to find music they are inspired by and excited to work on is super important to me! In lessons I like to focus on the proper breathing and vocal technique to make the songs you love to sing feel the best that it can! I am also a guitar player and love working with singers who play or are interested in playing instruments while singing. Working on original music is also something I’m very passionate about! Additional aspects we can also focus on are: developing the ear by practicing intervals and learning basic music theory knowledge, performance techniques, and audition preparation.
